Inclusive
Features
This is achievable by meeting the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 Level AA (WCAG 2.1 AA). As advocates for marginalized communities, we want to show that equity and accessibility are possible and preferable.
Examples of implemented accessible universal design:
-
Heading and button definitions for screen reader users to understand important wayfinding and information.
-
Clear hyperlinks for easy access to additional information connected to the highlighted word.
-
Strategically added and purposeful alt-tag image descriptions for screen reader users to understand and enjoy images.
-
Created a design grid that places content in grouped areas and in sequential order for easy scrolling with magnification.
-
Did not juxtapose the size of the text to an extreme so that magnification and keyboard-only users do not find it intense.
-
Used high color contrast in page designs for the visually impaired and color blind to limit eye strain.
